Data policy
Last updated: 2026
This policy explains what information Nosey Neighbour collects, how we use it, and your choices. We aim to collect only what we need to run the map and optional paid features.
Who we are
Nosey Neighbour is operated as a web application at https://noseyneighbour.co.uk/, focused on property sold prices and related map information for England and Wales.
Information we collect
- Search activity — postcodes or map coordinates you enter to run a search are processed to return results. We do not require an account for basic map use.
- Location (optional) — if you choose “Use my location” or map pick, your browser shares coordinates only for that request. We do not track your location in the background.
- Purchase details — if you buy a monthly activation key, we store your email address, key, expiry date and payment reference needed to fulfil the order. Card payments are handled by our payment provider (Stripe); we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
- Technical data — standard web server logs (IP address, user agent, requested URLs, timestamps) may be kept briefly for security and troubleshooting.
Cookies and local storage
We use essential cookies and browser storage only — for example to remember your search area, cookie consent, install-as-app preference, and an activation key on your device after purchase. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics trackers by default.
Map tiles and some embedded services (such as Mapbox) may set their own cookies or similar technologies as described in their privacy policies.
How we use information
- To provide map search, sold-price results and optional premium features.
- To email your activation key and purchase confirmation when you pay for map extras.
- To prevent fraud, abuse and unauthorised access to paid features.
- To maintain, secure and improve the service.
Third-party data and processors
Property sold prices are sourced from HM Land Registry (Open Government Licence). Flood, crime, planning and points-of-interest data come from public or licensed APIs. Maps are provided by Mapbox. Payments are processed by Stripe. Activation emails may be sent via SMTP (e.g. Gmail). Each provider processes data under their own terms and privacy policies.
Retention
Activation keys and purchase records are kept while your subscription is active and for a reasonable period afterwards for support, renewals and legal compliance. Server logs are rotated and not kept longer than necessary.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the reply address on emails from Nosey Neighbour. You may also complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk).
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
